Hazel Cheng is an illustrator based in Richmond, BC. Recently graduated at Emily Carr University of Art+Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, her studies were in Illustration. She has exhibited in several group shows and received third place in the 2nd World Cup Live Painting Competition at the Richmond Olympic Oval in 2013.
Drawing her inspiration from the historic village of Steveston, Hazel has worked on projects that reflect her home and heritage. She explores what it means to be Chinese-Canadian, and searches for a sense of belonging in a culture that has been decided for her. As an illustrator, she enthusiastically combines her love of animals and a wistful glance through her past.
